The operation

When suffering from protruding ears, they are approximated close to the head. The operative correction can be performed at as early as 5 years of age, because by then, the ear has nearly reached its final dimensions. The operation is performed with an incision on the dorsal side of the ear; the cartilage is then trimmed or reduced and then approximated to the head by burried sutures.

If cat ears, Darwin tubercules, large ear lobules or torn ear lobules are present, they can also be corrected.
